When getting a home loan to make your home purchase you better get used to the idea of paying FEES. Obtaining a home loan often involves many fees, just to name a few; application, appraisal, loan origination, underwriting fees, broker fees, settlement, transaction fees, and closing costs.
When shopping for a home loan it is important to get a list of fees from each institution and keep in mind that many of the fees are negotiable.
Some fees are paid when you apply for your home loan while other fees are paid at closing. Some fees you can borrow the money needed to pay, however this will increase the loan amount and your total costs.
If you are uncertain about the meaning of any fee ask for an explanation and ask what each fee includes (there may be several items lumped under one fee).
Remodeling?
When considering remodeling your home it is important to ask yourself whether you are going to sell your home in the near future. Often times when there is a remodel it revolves around individual taste and style. If painting you may use colors that match your current decor.
So if you aren’t planning on selling your home, go at it and have fun. If you are planning on selling your home consider doing things that add value. Do remodeling that enhances the beauty, comfort, and safety of the home. If painting use nuetral colors.
