It appears a the local Countrywide lender is giving homeowners a break in the Boise area to help them keep their Boise homes or find alternative living. This is all according to a the news story in the paper but it also mentioned, very briefly, that Countrywide was being sued by several other states in the US.
It appears that they were deceptive in their dealing with the public:
“Countrywide’s lending practices turned the American dream into a nightmare for tens of thousands of families by putting them into loans they couldn’t understand and ultimately couldn’t afford,” California Attorney General Jerry Brown Jr. said in a statement Sunday. Source: Associated Press
Facing a lawsuit over deceptive mortgage practices, a Bank of America Corp. subsidiary has agreed to modify tens of thousands of loans to keep people in 11 states from losing their homes, the Illinois attorney general’s office said Sunday. Source: Associated Press
Reading about Countrywide Home Loans and getting some public opinion would suggest that they have been taking advantage of homebuyers for quite some time.
Are they really trying to help out Boise residents or are they simply trying to save their own asses? I imagine it is the latter.

Buying a home is a huge ordeal and can have a serious effect on your net worth. Believe it or not but the transaction could go sour and you could end up with a negative net worth. Just ask some of the victims of the 2008 housing crisis, they will confirm it.
There are ways to protect yourself and one of the best ways is to hire yourself a real estate professional when buying a home. Not only do they know the local market but they know each step of the way and typically can answer, or find answers, to your questions and the last thing you need is a fuzzy understanding on what is going on.
Real estate agents will help you weather out any problems that may arise and the odds are pretty good that something will come up that is not expected.

Okay so everything went smooth as silk and it is time to close the deal. Everyone and their dog has signed on the dotted lines and it is time to move. The easiest way to make the move is to have a plan, don’t move in until the date specified on the paperwork, however you should look the home over before making the move to ensure nothing has happened to it since your last inspection. Start making a list on what needs to be done. Remember to have all the utilities changed over from your old to new residence and put together a moving checklist. Moving sucks but if you are prepared it won’t hurt as bad. Get it done efficiently and quickly and have everything set up by the time you get everything moved in that way you can kick your feet up and relax.

Even though it doesn’t happen very often there are times where a home buying transaction ends in disaster. With either thousands of dollars being lost or potentially losing the home. Even though there is no way to protect yourself 100% you can take steps to minimize trouble. The way to do this is to have a plan in place when buying a Boise home. Recent market troubles is going to bring with it new challenges and even though it may be harder for some to buy a home that may not be a bad thing. With foreclosures at a record high banks are now starting to protect themselves and potentially protect buyers that don’t quite have the finances to buy a home currently.
The best way to protect yourself from experiencing problems during a real estate transaction is to “beware” of what could arise from a transaction and have a contingency plan. One of the biggest mistakes people make is not talking to a lender before trying to buy a home when in fact it should be the first thing you do.

In competitive real estate markets it is critical to attract as much attention to your home as possible. So many people simply list their home and wait for the offers to come before negotiating the price, which in some cases the selling price is well below the asking price. This could happen for multiple reasons but there is a way to get your home noticed and to stand out. You can even add value to the transaction in which case you will get what you are asking for. That is if the home is already priced correctly.
Offering incentives can greatly increase your exposure in any real estate market. You can even create an incentive list that can be changed based on your area and even potential homebuyers. For my top 10 home selling incentives visit BoiseRealEstateInfo.net.
